Artist Talk- M I L K

M I L K are an artist-led collective based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They are a group of Newcastle University graduates, and they decided to keep their collective within Newcastle as it is less expensive to practice in as the studio spaces are cheap to rent. As well as that it offers lots of opportunities and community of many people who are interested in the art scene. However, they also practice out of the North East, they collaborated with IKO at SET London with exhibitions like 'Gratification'. They followed that up with another exhibition called 'People see Nothing' at Division of Labour, London. When working down south they realised that it was full of various opportunities, especially with galleries and networking, as well as that the audience branches out further too. However, the downside was that it was extremely expensive, and the art scene compared to others was a lot more vicious and competitive.
